Benefits of using our Climbing Wall in your School
Having a climbing wall in a school not only boosts children’s climbing grade, there are amazing benefits to health, academic performance, and social skills as well. But not only that, it opens the door to an array of career pathways.
Having access to a climbing wall, and using it, leads to a marked improvement of physical literacy in terms of balance, agility and coordination. Regularly climbing is a great form of exercise with many health benefits, but it doesn’t just end there.
Climbing walls can also offer the opportunity to teach aspects of maths and science; when you start getting ropes out and teach the forces involved with falling, and how to use pulleys to maximise your pulling power.
Meanwhile, climbing is a slightly more niche and less conventional PE sport (it is a GCSE option!), which some children who struggle with normal school sports can often excel at.

Benefits of Nordic Walking
Steve Jayne Nordic Walking Instructor “Doctors love Nordic Walking as it gets patients out into the fresh air and moving. People with balance issues, knee issues or new knees, hip issues or new hips, back issues, weight concerns, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, neuropathy, arthritis, bursitis, scoliosis, lumbar stenosis, fibromyalgia, post polio, osteoporosis, and stroke recovery will benefit”.
Health benefits of Canoeing
Hywel Diplock Adventure Activities Coordinator
Canoeing is a low impact activity that can improve your aerobic fitness, strength and flexibility.
Specific health benefits include:
Improved cardiovascular fitness
Increased muscle strength, particularly in the back, arms, shoulders and chest, from moving the paddle
Increased torso and leg strength, as the strength to power a canoe or kayak comes mainly from rotating the torso and applying pressure with your legs
Reduced risk of wear-and-tear on joints and tissues, since paddling is a low impact activity.
Health Benefits of Archery
Steve Kivell Senior Activity Instructor “Since archery is all about maintaining your focus on the target, the concentration can help you at work and during stressful times. You will not succumb to distractions or procrastinate on your tasks, when you learn the art of focusing”.
